Making Miniature Books with Peter Thomas:

This class will introduce participants to new and innovative book structures that have been developed or explored in depth by the instructor, while at the same time teaching the basic bookbinding skills required to create them. Participants will make some of the artist book structures described in the Thomas’s book More Making Books By Hand published in 2004 by Quarry/Rockport Publishers.
Salt and Silver; Paper, Eggs and Plastic:
Making Photographs the Old Fashioned Way
This workshop will give you a hands-on opportunity as Tom Wells guides you in producing photographs using historical recipes and practices. You will be shown how to make a salt photograph, an albumen photograph and a collodion-chloride photograph, printing each from selected negatives out of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections. These three photo processes will be explained and compared. You will also be shown examples from our collection of vintage photographs that used these processes. So roll up your sleeves and “step back in time” to enjoy photographic history firsthand.
